Students’ CAFE
Consumption, Processing & Distribution, Waste prevention
The problem
We are the Student Café, which is separate from our canteen operations. However, we play an essential role in this project for two reasons: we are a vital part of the school community, and we sell snacks during the first and second breaks.
The solution we used
Being a Fairtrade school for several years, we have experience in raising awareness about various societal issues within our school community. We achieve this through events, posters, flyers, classroom discussions with students and teachers, and sales campaigns.
Implementation
One of our notable events was a vernissage where fifth-graders showcased their artwork from art class. During this event, we served homemade healthy "cocktail smoothies" to our school community. Each smoothie was accompanied by a flyer detailing its ingredients and explaining how it benefits our health.
Our school community loved the smoothies, so we plan to host similar events in the near future.
